William Henderson

William Murray Henderson, 84, of Cadiz, died Thursday, September 27, 2007 at his home on his sixtieth wedding anniversary, thereby completing the circle of love. He was born August 31, 1923 in Cadiz, a son of the late Norman and Opal Murray Henderson. Mr. Henderson was a lifelong member of the First Church of Christ on North Main St. in Cadiz. He retired as a Letter Carrier from the US Post Office after forty four years of service, and was an Aviation Metal Smith in the US Navy during World War II. He graduated from Cadiz High School and attended The Ohio State University. His community involvement included Harrison Lodge 219, F. & A.M. (Past Master); Cadiz Chapter 171, Royal Arch Masons (Secretary); Grand Council of Royal and Select Masons, Tuscarawas Council 109; St. Bernard Commandry, # 51; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville; the Harrison County Genealogical Society; the Harrison County Historical Society; and the Cadiz American Legion, Post 34. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Davis; a son-in-law, Allen Davis; and three infant sons. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Mattern Henderson; two sons, William N. and his wife, Nina Henderson of Springboro, OH and Robert D. and his wife, Denise Henderson of Cadiz; seven grandchildren: Andrea Davis, Allison DeMarco, Lindsay, Stephen and Stephanie Henderson, B.J. Kramer and Asa Henderson; two great grandchildren, Skylar DeMarco and Brandon Kramer; a brother, Donald (Charlotte) Henderson of Springfield, OH; and a brother-in-law, Arthur (Nan) Mattern of Cadiz. Friends may call Sunday, 1-3:30 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio, where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ, 139 N. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio with Paul Giffin officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
