Mildred Swiger

Mildred Swiger, 89, of Cadiz, died Friday, December 17, 2004 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. She was born May 6, 1915 in Strange Creek, WV, a daughter of the late Anson Joel and Amanda Perkins Walker. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Cadiz, where she was active in prayer meetings and the Women's Christian Fellowship, and the Harrison County AARP. She is a former employee of the Scio Pottery Co. in Scio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Harris; a daughter, June Harris; 4 brothers, Melvin, Lewis, Anson, and Orville Walker and 3 sisters, Hilda Cain, Naomi, Harmon and Marieta Gibson. Surviving are 2 sons, Fred Byers and his wife, Diane, and Robert Byers and his wife, Jean, both of Wilmington, DE; a daughter, Jean Hoobler and her husband, Reuben of Jewett; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Friends may call Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the First Church of Christ in Cadiz, with Terry Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Hopedale Cemetery.
