Lucille Bernhard

Lucille Bernhard, 93, of Cadiz, died Thursday, August 24, 2006 at Sunset Health Care Center, Adena, Ohio. She was born December 12, 1912 in Cadiz, a daughter of the late Dominick (Tony) and Josephine (Giosepina) Schirippa Gatto. She was last surviving original member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Cadiz, where she was a member of the Catholic Women's Club. She retired from teaching in the Cadiz Exempted Village Schools, and was a member of the Harrison County Retired Teacher's Association and the Harrison Community Hospital Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lewis (Sode) Bernhard in 1966; and by two brothers, William and James Gatto. Surviving are two sons, Robert L. (Janet) Bernhard, New Smyrna, FL and Thomas L. (Judy) Bernhard of Fremont, CA; a daughter Sara (Chuck) George of St. Clairsville; five grandchildren: Stephanie Schmidt, Cari and Brian Bernhard, and Brad and Ryan George; a great grandddaughter, Abigail Rae Schmidt; and a sister, Helen Gatto of Cadiz. Friends may call Sunday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, where a Vigil Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 28, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Fr. Thomas Vennitti at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Cadiz. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 143 E.
