Kenneth Barker, 68 of Albion, IL, formerly of Cadiz, OH, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at his home in Albion. He was born October 5, 1942 in Cadiz, a son of the late Archie and Isabelle Laughrige Barker. Kenny was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albion, the Albion Classic Cruisers and the Albion Moose. He was a graduate of Cadiz High School and the Nashville Auto Diesel College. He was a former volunteer with the Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department and the Cadiz Emergency Squad. He loved cars, tinkering in his shop, bass fishing and golf. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Barker. Surviving are his wife, Karen Thaxton Barker, whom he married August 5, 1961; a daughter Kristin (Robby) Tate of Mt. Vernon, IL; a son, K. Scott (David S. Ray) Barker of Washington, DC; three grandchildren: Kylie and Kendall Kaskie and Eli Wolfe; three brothers, David (Judy) Barker and Gary (Kathy) Barker, all of Cadiz and John (Ginny) Barker of Cambridge; and a sister-in-law, Jan Barker of Dover, DE. Following services in Illinois, friends may call Monday 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ashley Barker Steele officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 129 E. Main St., Albion, IL 62806.
