(Thelma) Jean Henderson passed away in her home and surrounded by her loving family on Monday, June 07, 2010. She was strong and brave through a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. Jean was born March 16, 1939 in Georgetown, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Charles William Stewart and Mary Emma Moore Stewart. She married Stuart Henderson, Jr. on January 29, 1960. Jean & Stuart celebrated 50 years of marriage this year. They raised three children on their farm near Tappan Lake. Their marriage grew strong through the years of happiness and remained strong. The trials that life brings made them hold each other closer. Their family will always be grateful for their example of love. Jean was a homemaker and enjoyed being with her family. Along with this life-long devotion, she was able to do many things she loved. She operated a successful jewelry business known as Jeans Jewels. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, Scio Civic Club, and Harrison County Democratic Women. She was active with shopping trips and traveled the world with friends and family. She loved to read, embroider, quilt, play bingo, and entertain. She especially loved hosting and entertaining company at her restored log cabin near Tappan Lake. Most of all she loved having her family close. During the last few months of her life, she found comfort and joy in constant attendance of family and friends in the home. Many evenings found Jean, Stuart, their children & grandchildren enjoying family time with dinners provided by family and friends. Jean is survived by her husband Stuart and children Vickey (Dave) Chrisman, Mike Henderson, and Peggy Henderson. Grandchildren Megan Thomas Fischer, Kayla (Josh) Daniel, Jacquelyn Knight, Marcus Henderson, and Brett Knight, who will miss her greatly.
